Intro: The 2015 Troplong Mondot emerges with an inky, deep garnet purple core and a lush, potent nose of crème de cassis, blackberry tar, fig compote and dark chocolate, layered with toasty new oak, spice box, violets and bay leaves. On the palate it is full bodied and rich, with immense concentration of ripe dark fruit, firm but polished grainy tannins, lifted by fresh acidity and a mineral spine, finishing with great length and spicy echoes of clove, black pepper and cedar. Troplong Mondot sits at the highest point of the Saint Émilion plateau (110 m altitude), on clay limestone slopes and gravel over limestone soils, giving it a distinctive power and minerality. The vineyard covers about 43 contiguous hectares; one of the larger estates in Saint Émilion.

Region: Bordeaux || Winery: Château Troplong Mondot

Grapes: 90% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2% Cabernet Franc

Aging: Aged in French oak barrels with 85% new oak for this vintage

ABV: 15.5% || Decant: 1–2 hours || Serving Temp: 16-18°C

Pairing: Roast lamb, beef tenderloin, venison, game; especially with a herb crust or truffle/mushroom sauce. Fine aged cheeses (like Comté, mature Bleu) or richer dishes with dark sauces will match the wine’s depth and tannin

Tasting Notes: The 2015 Saint Emilion Troplong Mondot displays a deep garnet purple color with violet highlights. The nose offers ripe black plums, cassis, blackberry, chocolate, espresso, and subtle spice. Full bodied and concentrated, it features firm tannins, fresh acidity, and a mineral graphite backbone, finishing long and elegant with clove, black pepper, cedar, and dark chocolate, showing structure, tension, and ageing potential
