Solaia 2020

Intro: The 2020 vintage of Solaia by Marchesi Antinori epitomizes the pinnacle of Tuscan winemaking. Sourced from the sun splashed, southwestern slopes of the Tignanello estate’s namesake vineyard, this wine blends Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc to deliver a powerful yet elegant expression of terroir, craftsmanship and vintage quality. The name “Solaia” derives from the vineyard’s unique exposure. The sunniest part of the Tignanello hillside (“sole”= sun in Italian). Only top vintages of this vineyard are selected for the Solaia label, making its production limited and collectible.

Tasting Notes: The 2020 Solaia, Marchesi Antinori shows a deep, intense ruby hue with a violet rim. The nose is powerful and complex, revealing layers of blackberries, currants, and blueberries alongside notes of mint, myrtle, licorice, lavender, cocoa powder, and pink pepper. On the palate, it is full bodied yet impeccably balanced, with a lush dark fruit core, velvety tannins, and fresh acidity that supports its structure. The finish is long and persistent, leaving impressions of coffee bean, spice, and licorice
