Intro: The 2022 Roc de Cambes opens with richly saturated purple plum hues and a beguiling bouquet of black cherries, cassis, and dark plums, layered with espresso roast, licorice, graphite and menthol. On the palate it is medium to full bodied, densely structured with a core of ripe dark fruit, powdery tannins, and a fine mineral/chalky finish. The estate is owned by the same family behind Tertre Rôteboeuf and sits on the limestone rich plateau of the Côtes de Bourg. Many of the vines are estimated to be 50 years old and the terroir closely mirrors its famous Right‐Bank neighbour in Saint Émilion.

Region: Bordeaux || Winery: Château Roc de Cambes

Grapes: 80% Merlo and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon

Aging: Aged in French oak (many reports state high new‐oak percentage, some say ~100%) with limestone/clay soils contributing to minerality

ABV: 15% || Decant: 1–2 hours || Serving Temp: 16-18°C

Pairing: Pairs best with hearty dishes: roast lamb, beef with rich sauce, game, truffle/mushroom dishes, aged cheese

Tasting Notes: The 2022 Roc de Cambes Côtes de Bourg shows a deep purple black hue with a dense, opaque core. The nose reveals black cherry, cassis, and dark plum, layered with espresso, licorice, graphite, and hints of menthol and pine. Medium to full bodied, it offers rich dark fruit, fine grained tannins, and fresh acidity balanced by mineral tension. The finish is long and precise, with a chalky grip and subtle notes of pepper and sage

Rating (Complexity & Vintage Year): 94 AA
