Petrus - Pomerol 1998
Intro: The 1998 Pétrus is hailed as a standout vintage for the estate; described as “a fabulous effort; dense plum/purple colour; extraordinary nose of black fruit intermixed with caramel, mocha and vanilla; exceptionally pure, super concentrated.” It offers both power and precision, combining ripe Merlot fruit with fine tannins and outstanding potential for ageing. The unique “blue clay” soils of Pétrus (common to the Pomerol plateau) are credited with giving the wine its velvety tannins and distinctive plush texture.
