Intro: The 2016 Château La Gaffelière erupts from the glass with deep garnet purple hues and a nose of stewed plums, kirsch, and black cherries, layered beneath hints of pencil lead, underbrush and mossy tree bark. The palate is medium to full bodied, refined yet powerful, offering plush dark fruits, velvety tannins and bright freshness. The finish is long, elegant, with a mineral and slightly chalky grip. The estate has been in the hands of the Malet Roquefort family for many years and is among the oldest in Saint Émilion.
