Flor de Pingus 2019
Intro: Flor de Pingus 2019 is the premium second label from Dominio de Pingus in the Ribera del Duero of Spain. Crafted by renowned winemaker Peter Sisseck, the wine channels the estate’s high end ethos into a powerful yet elegant expression of old vine Tempranillo. The 2019 vintage combines finesse, concentration and freshness. Despite being referred to as a “second wine,” Flor de Pingus is made from its own vineyards (not just leftover barrels) and stands as a distinct cuvée in its own right. Some labels mention that the estate’s methods include very low yields (as little as 9 hl/ha in some plots) and biodynamic practices.

Tasting Notes: The 2019 Flor de Pingus, Dominio de Pingus, displays a deep ruby red colour. The nose opens with aromas of blackberries, black cherries, hot crushed stones, black licorice, and subtle spice and vanilla. On the palate, it is medium to full bodied with a concentrated dark fruit core, fine grained tannins, and fresh acidity, supported by a strong mineral backbone. The wine shows both richness and elegance, leading to a long, structured, and layered finish with lingering notes of dark fruit, spice, and minerals
