Intro: Bin 389 is often called the “Baby Grange” because it blends Cabernet Sauvignon’s structure with Shiraz’s richness. The 2020 vintage delivers concentrated dark fruit, a bold mid palate, and supple oak integration; classic Penfolds style but with youthful energy. The 2020 blend is 51% Cabernet Sauvignon / 49% Shiraz It is matured for 12 months in American oak hogsheads, of which about 33% are new. This wine has historically been matured partly in the same barrels (“hogheads”) that previously held Grange, creating a link between the two iconic labels.

Tasting Notes: The 2020 Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz shows a deep, dark ruby colour with aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and plum layered with vanilla, mocha, leather and subtle American oak spice. The palate is plush and voluminous, offering a creamy mid palate balanced by firm yet polished tannins. Black fruits, red liquorice, savoury fennel and a touch of charred meat unfold alongside gentle oak notes. The finish is long and structured, carrying graphite like minerality and lingering ripe fruit
