Overture 2021
Intro: Overture 2021 is the first vintage dated bottling of Opus One’s second wine. It captures the elegance and terroir of the Opus One estate in a slightly more approachable package. The wine shows fresh red and dark fruit, a soft frame, and a velvety texture with powdery tannins. Although Overture has existed since 1993, 2021 is the first year they put a vintage on the label, marking a shift in philosophy. The 2021 growing season at Opus One was very dry. One of the lowest rainfall years in their history, which led to lower yields and very concentrated fruit. The wine is aged for 19.5 months in new French oak, giving it structure and fine grained oak influence.
